Last Week

3am last week I was at home in bed. After 3 hours in a car, 10 hours on a plane and 5 hours in the airport and I arrived at University of Indianapolis. I had been up since 3am, travelled for 18 hours and it was only 5:30pm!!! As you can expect was tad tired. So, apologise to anyone I met when I arrived for being so dead tired and Jet lagged that I just did not want to speak to anyone! (A suprise I know). This blog is just a little more information about my first few days and what I’ve been up to so far!

That night I slept and was up early to meet the International Advisor for breakfast. This is when I also met Mikaela Starr. A fellow international student from Australia. Surprisingly we share a lot of the same dialect although she quickly reminded me to not use the word “craic” ever. Like EVER!

I then walked around campus and tried to figure out where all the building were! I was perfectly content to walks round alone and take it all in. As I walked I prayed that God would give me Christian friends. Or even just one Christian to get to know. While walking into breakfast that morning I had seen a group of students wearing t-shirts that said Threshold on them. Turns out Threshold was a Christian retreat on campus. Kinda like preterm back home but just on campus. So after my wee tour of campus I was walking through the student centre and I saw them all gathered together about to begin their morning fun activities. I don’t know what made me do it but that’s when I decided to walk up to two men who appeared to be organising the whole thing. I introduced myself and told them how I Love Jesus too. Turns out the two guys David and Jeremiah are the Chaplin’s on campus and they immediately brought me to a group of Transfer students to get stuck in. This is where I met the Roberts sisters Hannah and Dani who quickly have become my american sisters. And then there is Madyson who was the group leader and is going to bring me to church this Sunday. I spent the rest of the day with the Threshold group (apart from my short trip to Walmart were I met the way too stylish Sokratis). God is so good! No way did I expect him to answer pray so quickly and in such an amazing way. There is a worship service twice a week and I enjoyed the 2nd of which tonight. Really amazing to get involved so quickly with the Christian groups on campus.

Some other activities in the past week have included: State Fair, Midnight Madness in Target, Riding on scooters downtown, Watching Shrek, eating lots of food, all the freebies from welcome week fair, a kick about or two and 4 full boring days of orientation! Classes begin on Monday so I am excited to meet my classmates and show God’s love on this campus in so many ways.

God is watching over me.
